Stored Pressure Extinguishers. A variety of extinguishers fall under what are known as "stored pressure" units. Each manufacturer may have various names to refer to their stored-pressure models based on the extinguishing agent and/or the material the extinguisher is made from, but the operation of each unit is similar. Vanguard provides, inspects and services a wide variety of these extinguishers from many manufacturers. For a great general purpose extinguisher when economy and performance are equally important, a unit like the Ansul SENTRY is designed for light to medium use and ise available with dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or water. Another manufacturer with a similar unit is Amerex. Typical applications for a general purpose extinguisher include: Auto repair shops, banks, electrical equipment rooms, hotels, machining operations, material handling vehicles, offices, schools, warehouses, and others. An example of a Clean Agent Portable Extinguisher would be an ANSUL® CLEANGUARD extinguisher. These units contain DuPont FE-36® which is clean, electrically nonconductive, environment friendly, extremely low in toxicity, and exceptionally effective. Vanguard offers a Non-Magnetic version of this extiguisher for MRI rooms, operating rooms, and other similar applications. Another Clean Agent extinguisher is manufactured by Amerex and is the Halotron I model that is often used in areas previously protected by Halon 1211 units.Typical applications for a Clean Agent extinguisher include: computer centers, data/document storage areas, communications facilities, control rooms, electronics manufacturing, museums, art galleries, laboratories, and many others. A stored pressue extinguisher containing an agent that is geared toward food operations would be the ANSUL® K-GUARD fire extinguisher or the Amerex Wet-Chem. This unit contains ANSULEX® liquid fire suppressant to quickly knock down the flames, form a vapor-securing blanket, and cool the grease and surrounding surfaces. Iti is Listed by UL and ULC for "K" class fires. Typical applications for a Class "K" stored pressue extinguisher include restaurants, convenience stores, food courts, cafeterias, and many others.
